Colleen and Doug are in Oxford for a short time from the United States. When they asked me to photograph their daughter, their only request was that the pictures be distinctly British. There is no shortage of spires, stone buildings or narrow streets in this city; fulfilling the specification was entirely possible.

So what came to mind almost immediately? My admiration for the street artist, Banksy. In particular, I thought Kate would be the perfect toddler to recreate a version of Banky's 'Girl with the Red Balloon'.

The weather was typically British (unpredictable), the high winds would prove very helpful and what 19 month old doesn't like balloons? Everything we needed for the shoot.
