Kate & the Fritillaries

Apr 2012

Each spring, Magdalen College's meadow fills with Fritillaries; a rare and delicate purple flower. Colleen loved the idea of photographing Kate amongst the flowers as part of a larger Oxford photo shoot. The flowers are only in bloom for a short period and thankfully, Colleen and Kate were available at a days notice.

Little did I know how tricky it would be to capture a lively 18 month year old with these tiny flowers! It was hard work but I managed to get the shots we wanted.

Kate was far more interested in weaving between the daffodils. My approach to child photography is to treat the session as an opportunity to play - it allows me to get some more natural and fun images. I followed Kate's lead and got some wonderful pictures.

Part 2 of our photo session will continue in two weeks.
